All Systems Go For Saturday’s MTN 8 Final

All roads lead to Moses Mabhida stadium for a sold-out affair concluding this season’s MTN Cup final. On Saturday 5 October, the contest will see the mighty Buccaneers facing Stellenbosch Fc.

Kholo Magagane, Acting General Manager of MTN shared his excitement as the country awaits the MTN final. “The rate of the sold-out ticket is an encouragement as the sponsor, a good way to celebrate 30 years which shows progress as a brand. Stellies play their first MTN Cup final also shows progress for us.

We made a pledge  that we would be donating R20000 for every goal scored.”

MTN has put in all the stops for a great final. Several artists will be on ground to entertain the fans as they wait for the kickoff time.

Orlando Pirates are coming to this MTN 8 cup final with strong confidence as they are the defending champions, winning the MTN 8 cup three times in a row.

“We are facing a serious team as Orlando Pirates; we have one goal in mind which is to win the cup as we have won it three times, said Mandla Ncikazi, Orlando Pirates assistant coach. The Stellies have beaten Mamelodi Sundowns at Mabhida stadium; won the Black Label Cup at Mabhida, however as Orlando Pirates we have a positive attitude. A team that is strong on transition is difficult to play against and it is up to us on how to deal with them. We have to take the right measures to get our hands on the trophy.” Ncikazi further said “Stellenbosch FC has been the favorite team coming to this cup final.”

“Moses Mabhida been a good stadium for us, I have won MTN as a player and had good games as a coach. We have as many talented players as Orlando Pirates have. It’s going to be a big task but we trust our players will up their game. Steve Barker, Head coach of Stellies continued, “Getting to the final has taught us but winning a final is tougher, winning the GE will be a very emotional and undescribed feeling.”
