Last week, Carfax was transformed into a supernatural realm as Ghost World Halloween, hosted by the renowned QUE DJ in partnership with MTV Base and Johnnie Walker Blonde, took on the night on October 31st. This newly launched annual Halloween celebration delivered a night filled with electrifying performances, and a fusion of local and international DJ talent that left attendees spellbound.
The night turned up to dynamic sets from Yasuka Som Systema, KMat, Thebe Magagu, Dee Traits, TNXBK, Perfecto Mlu, Celso Fabbri, DBN Gogo, and Slow Poison. Ghost World succeeded in blending the haunting atmosphere of Halloween with the pulsating beats that kept the crowd dancing until the early hours.
Dressed in an array of imaginative costumes ranging from classic movie villains, toy characters, scream queens to pop icons and superheroes, attendees embraced the call for creativity and transformed the venue into a living gallery of Halloween artistry. The night was a feast not just for the ears, but for the eyes as well that included the likes of Sarah Langa, Kamo WW, OKMalumKoolKat, Jeremy Blasco, Zamani Mbatha, Ponahalo Mojapelo, Sibusiso Kotelo, Aart Verrips, Foyin Ogunrombi and more.
Capping off an incredible week, QUE DJ went on to win the Best Gqom Album award at the South African Music Awards on Saturday, November 2nd, for his album We Don’t Play the Same Gqom 2, solidifying his position as one of the most impactful artists in the industry.
