Young Leaders, Bold Moves: Africa L.E.O Charity Drive Champions Menstrual Wellness and Fibroid Research

In a powerful celebration of purpose and progress, the 1st Annual Africa L.E.O Charity Drive marked a bold step forward in the fight for women’s health, launching a dynamic initiative that centers menstrual wellness and fibroid research—two issues deeply impacting African women but often left out of mainstream conversations.

Held in honor of Mother’s Day, the event brought together influential voices, including Dr. Tim Tebeila, celebrated mining entrepreneur; Yvonne Chaka Chaka, the iconic Princess of Africa; and media powerhouse Penny Lebyane. These changemakers gathered not just to speak, but to act—setting an example of what it means to lead with purpose and give back with impact.

But the heart of the event wasn’t just in the speeches—it was in the action. Africa L.E.O distributed dignity packs to young girls, reaffirming that access to menstrual products is not a luxury, but a basic right. The initiative also unveiled a strategic sponsorship for a young girls’ soccer team, showing that wellness extends beyond health—it includes confidence, community, and opportunity.

This isn’t charity as usual—it’s a new movement. A movement where menstrual wellness is taken seriously. Where fibroid awareness becomes part of public health priorities. Where girls on the soccer field feel seen, supported, and strong.

For young adults across the continent, the Africa L.E.O Charity Drive is a bold reminder: You don’t have to wait to lead change—you can be it. Whether through research, advocacy, or simply showing up, each of us has a role in building a healthier, more empowered future.

To the young dreamers and doers—this is your call to action. Be the shift. Lead the change. And always remember: real power is in the giveback.
