Do you think most youths still appreciate and take of  their cultural roots?

No, I think the youth is more focused on moving with times and is slowly forgetting their roots. From the music they listen to, the clothes they wear, the hair that is more acceptable in the society; the youth is slowly losing its authenticity and is now following trends.

At what age did you realize that you had passion for modeling?

In high school, I was always interested in modeling but I was never chosen to be one of the candidates. In 2018 someone told me about a modeling competition, I entered and that’s when I noticed the love I have for modeling.

How do you deal with encounter negative comments from people?

Yes I get do a lot, some people have a very bad idea of modeling. This one time I was asking for votes on Facebook and this guy commented and said why would they vote for people who walk around naked and win. Some people especially in my community have the idea that modeling is about walking around naked and showing your body of which it is not. I deal with them by always trying to educate them on the importance of modelling.

Miss Cebisa also treated us to some poetry to express her feelings:

I am an African woman,

born with skin color chocolate

I’m black as black can be

I embrace ubuntu bami ngazo zombili.

I was born in the land made strong by

The carcases of my forefathers oCebisa,

oDeyi, oShlophe, oDludla, oZungu,

oManzini, oSengwayo,

oNyama kayishi isha ngamabhebhezeli

I’m bright, brilliant and articulate.

Strong and bold…

I’m gifted…with a tremendous gift of love…

Ngiyindlovukazi, injabulo yama Cebisa.

I go by the name of Vuyokazi Cebisa.
