Get To Know More About Stock Investments With Dr Chris!

Stock investing is all about buying and having shares in a particular company, many people lack the knowledge about it, mainly because such information hasn’t reached their ears , if they were to hear about it they would grab the opportunity and partake.

Chris Mpofu is a doctor at a well known hospital based in Durban, Kwazulu Natal. However he availed himself to give information on what most people take lightly, which is stock analysis and investing. In a virtual interview, Mpofu said “My aim is to encourage people to start taking investments seriously at a young age, your returns will be boosted. Stock markets can either be available locally or abroad”

How stock investments work?

You buy a particular stocks and hold them long term , after you’ve analysed the company’s fundamentals. The share price may appreciate in time , meaning you will get more than you invested.. if you choose to sell the shares in future . People differ in this case , some will invest for dividends which are quarterly payments paid to shareholders as long as they hold onto the shares , so it basically becomes like an income stream.

How financially fit should one be to invest?

“With some platforms you can even start from as little as R10 or less. Remember the goal is to build your portfolio over time”.

“As I’m invested into American tech companies mostly, tech is the future. However I do have local stocks in mining, leisure sectors and diversified financials.”

This helps people to do something more meaningful with their incomes , where they have a platform to generate more income for themselves; jobs get hectic at times and some businesses on the side are thought of but there’s never time to run around and get it started . I chose investing in stocks because those companies have experienced people running them , at the end of the day money is made .

When investing, make sure to do thorough research on that company. With other companies instead of growing , they go bankrupt. At that point you lose money . Due diligence is mandatory and also investing in fundamentally sound companies.

Do you invest once off or monthly?

It’s entirely up to you, other people may have a lump sum they want to invest, some may prefer to invest monthly. But it’s important to diversify when buying stocks, in different companies and different industries.

Why did you choose investing?

To know that my financial needs and wants will be well taken care of in future.

It really doesn’t matter what is it that you do , it’s an open space for everyone and it’s helping me with everybody else .
