Stix Makasana‘s breakthrough arrived in 2024 when he freestyled “Hosh Mizuzu” over Dee Koala’s instrumental from the hit song “Spazz” and uploaded it to TikTok. The freestyle went viral, racking up over 3 million views and capturing the attention of DJ Cleo who is known for discovering and nurturing raw talent. Recognizing Stix’s potential, DJ Cleo publicly declared him “the next big thing in South African hip-hop” and signed him to Eskhaleni Music, a subsidiary of Will of Steel Productions.
