Lockdown Soundtrack – Durban Launch

South Africa’s Mzansi Magic series, Lockdown produced by Mandla N and Black Brain Crew hosted their first soundtrack and video launch at one of Durban’s most renowned venues, Views at 25, on Thursday 22nd November 2018.

A serene and inviting atmosphere welcomed guests from all across the board to witness a night of “True African spirit”.

The Lockdown series has managed to capture surreal detailings of prison yet showcase the heart and soul of our nation. From systematic corruption to daily challenges- heart felt emotions and traditions we abide by are felt within this authentic Mzansi series.

Comedian and hilarious MC for the evening, Simphiwe Shembe kept guests entertained by his blunt sense of humor. Dawn Thandeka King who plays MaZet on the series shocked the audience with her powerful vocal chords in a never to forget performance with her live band.

Songstress, Nelisiwe Sibiya definitely made a grand entrance to the stage whilst performing her well known single, ‘Nomathemba’ but the show stopper for the evening was her profound performance of ‘Mama ka Bafana’ which had everyone in the audience humming to the touching song.

Within the excitement and frenzy of the night, Blazon Magazine had a quick interview with producer/director Mandla N. When questioned on his reasons behind hosting the launch of the project in Durban he stated, “There’s no other place I saw fit, I mean Durban is full of so much raw talent that people take for granted. We need to get out there, get out of our comfort zones, showcase whatever talent we hold and run with it. Make it big, go international if need be, it doesn’t have to end here.”

Despite the end of Season 2 of Lockdown,Black Brain Crew has left a mark within our Durban shores and South Africa can surely look forward to the release of this beautiful soundtrack and video filled with talent and a message all South Africans can relate too.
