On the tip of our tongues lies names such as: Chika Ike, Queen Nwoye, Pete Edochie and Van Vicker when we speak of household names within the Nigerian film industry.
Another name Nollywood fans never fail to forget is that of Zainab Balogun. In addition to being a television presenter and producer, Zainab Balogun is a one-of-a-kind thespian who started her acting career as an extra.
Her hard work certainly paid off and in 2018 her acting career gained great momentum. We have witnessed her in several movies such as: The Royal Hibiscus Hotel (where she played a lead role) as well as God Callingnot forgetting to mention her Bollywood stint in a movie titled – ‘Cocktail’.
The London -Born beauty brilliantly brings each character she plays to life and I speak for most viewers when I say her art is so engraving that we almost forget that it is a role.
Most outsider’s perspective, Acting seems like a relatively easy task to pull off but the many intricacies that come with the job are usually concealed from the viewer as a result of the stellar performances thespians such as Zainab give. Making a demanding task like taking on a character seem like a walk in the park.
Apart from acting, the Nigerian star produces and hosts shows for EbonyLife TV – a renowned entertainment television network. Included in the shows she has produced is EL Now which offers the latest arts, fashion and music news on a daily basis. Moreover, Zainab is a co-host on a daily talk show titled The Spot and works alongside Ebuka Obi-Uchendu and Lamide Akintobi.
Although Zainab Balogun is not new to our screens, it is fair to say that her acting career is at its peak right now, making her somebody to look out for in the year 2019.
