As Banyana Banyana head to WAFCON 2025 in Morocco to defend their title, they do so with the hopes, pride, rhythm, and energy of an entire nation behind them. And this year, Shield is making sure Mzansi shows up loud, proud, and in motion.
Introducing the Shield Heat Wave: a first-of-its-kind, fan-powered movement that turns national support into a vibrant, unified show of pride. Created by Shield, the official movement sponsor of Banyana Banyana, the Heat Wave channels the spirit of fans across the country—those who dance, chant, and bring the heat for their team in every moment that matters.
“This is our moment to move as one,” says Aneska Narandas, Brand Manager for Shield. “Shield has always been about confidence through movement and this year, that confidence belongs to every South African. The Heat Wave is our way of showing up for Banyana Banyana together. It’s energy, it’s passion, and Shield will be there to keep every fan fresh and fearless.”

From stadiums to living rooms to fan parks Mzansi is rising. The Shield Heat Wave invites fans everywhere to move for Banyana: to dance, celebrate, and express their support with the same confidence and intensity the players bring to the pitch. As Banyana brings the fire on the field, fans bring it in the stands—and Shield brings the freshness to carry them through.
To amplify the movement, Shield unveiled a larger-than-life writable installation in Pretoria, giving fans a chance to pen powerful messages of belief and motivation to the national team. From heartfelt messages from schoolchildren to bold words from lifelong supporters, this live mural captured the collective voice of a nation and was officially handed over to Banyana Banyana ahead of the tournament.
With the opening match against Ghana kicking off on 7 July 2025, the Shield Heat Wave is building momentum across South Africa and it’s only getting hotter.
So, Mzansi are you ready to move? Let’s show the world how SA brings the heat for our heroes.
