KwaZulu-Natal’s most successful Cup, honoring the late Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, has set a new record by crowning two giants as champions of the PM Legacy Cup: Amazulu FC and Nsingizini FC, both contesting in the Premier League of Eswatini.

In the 6th annual Prince Mangosuthu legacy cup AmaZulu were the first team to secure themselves in the final after defeating the defending champions Njampela in the opening of the semi-final.

They were joined in the final by Eswatini’s Nsingizini Hotspurs, defeating the Natal Rich Boys on a penalty shootout after a goalless draw in regulation time.

The Prince Mangosuthu Legacy Cup has become a key fixture on KwaZulu-Natal football teams more especially Amazulu FC as they have been part of the 6-year-old growing cup honoring the late Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi,  the founder of the IFP political party and a traditional Zulu leader who passed away in 2023.

“Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi had a very ammunant personality in the KZN geography and among Zulu people in particular, Amazulu football club went to him to say We need to initiate a program for your legacy, he was still alive at that time, this has been going on for decades,”

Sandile Zungu the President of Amazulu, shares his effort and longing for a proper grassroots development in highlighting the importance of such cups for local talent and teams.
