Queens natives Mary J Blige and Nas re-unite to give usTHRIVING, the hot new single with a throwback to early 2000s Hip-Hop beats.
THRIVING is just one of the many musical collaborations between them, including their rendition of ‘Rise Up Shepherd and Follow’ off The Black Nativity soundtrack in 2013, ‘Reach Out’ from Nas’ Life Is Good album in 2012, and most famously, the Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis-produced track, ‘Love Is All We Need’ off Blige’s third studio album, Share My World back in 1997.
The Queen of Hip-Hop Soul offers some motivational words on the empowering anthem:
“We not just surviving / Yeah, we thriving over here,” she sings before offering some advice – “Hold your crown up to the sky.”
Nasir blesses the track with his regal bars – “I dodged bullets and jail time and kept driving / Stood tall through it all, keep thriving.”
Blige and Nas’ THRIVING arrives ahead of their co-headlining tour, which kicks off this July.
