Proving its cool creds yet again, TRACE Urban has been named South Africa’s “Coolest TV Channel” and “Coolest TV Music Channel” at last night’s Sunday Times Next Gen Awards, held at the Sandton Convention Centre on Thursday, 13 June 2019.
Incredibly, this is the channel’s eighth win in the TV Channel category and 11th consecutive win in the TV Music Channel category. Since 2009, TRACE has been lauded by fans around the country for being tops, going head to head against other channels and platforms in a fast-changing and highly innovative sector.
“We’re a brand that is proudly innovative, disruptive and urban within our DNA, with a strong focus on highlighting emerging talent,” says Valentine Gaudin-Muteba, TRACE Southern Africa Managing Director. Being creative, culturally relevant and most importantly, listening to their audience, is what sets TRACE apart, adds Gaudin-Muteba.
The Sunday Times Next Gen Awards are considered the ultimate insight into how the youth think about and engage with brands. To be named coolest in any category is a powerful accolade for a generation of consumers who are harder to reach and talk to. “TRACE Urban helps creative youth to express themselves fully, whilst delivering the best in Afro-Urban culture,” adds Gaudin-Muteba.
TRACE Urban also came fifth in a new category for this year, “Coolest Entertainment Channel 2019”, while TRACE Africa also ranked number 5 in the “Coolest TV Music Channel” category.
