JOHANNESBURG, David Tlale, the world renowned South African designer, has embarked on a unique partnership in honour of Heritage Month. The fashion powerhouse is usually known for setting trends on the runway however this heritage month he is setting trends of a new kind by partnering with TASTIC, a brand that is deeply entrenched in South Africa’s heritage.
The partnership sees David has creating an exclusive pack design that was inspired by his childhood, as well as the rich and vibrant mix of cultures found in South Africa. “In creating the pack, I was inspired by the colours and textures of the women I grew up around, iconic South African buildings as well as the DNA of the House of David Tlale, which is all about structure, texture and drama.”commented the designer.
The “My Heritage” campaign invites all South Africans to celebrate their unique cultural practices as expressed through food, fashion and music. This was evident at the starstudded launch event attended by the who’s who of SA’s entertainment industry including Idols judge Somizi Mhlongo, actress Jessica Nkosi and socialite Blue Mbombo. Guests where entertained by the soulful sounds of Vusi Nova and international House DJ Harrison Crump.
Another TASTIC collaborator on the night was Chef Nti, who created a menu of TASTIC dishes inspired by her own heritage and childhood. “I drew my inspiration for the menu from the memories of all my favourite foods growing up, such as mogudu and all my favourite 7 colour dishes,” she shared.

The pack design beautifully depicts the life of an everyday South African and celebrates the character, texture and colours that make us who we are ” says Thembi Sehloho, Marketing Director for Rice and Pasta at Tiger Brands South Africa.
The TASTIC limited edition pack will be available in stores nationwide, from 1 September 2019.
