Music Review – Sha Sha Blossom

Born Charmaine Mapimbiro, favoured as the Amapiano queen and better known by her stage name Sha Sha. The songstress is signed to DJ Maphorisa’s hitmaking music label, Blaqboy.

She is the new breath of fresh air on our music scenes and an ear candy on most of our Amapiano hit singles, which are currently getting people on the groove spirit and making hit waves on most of the South African corners.

Sha Sha grew up in Mutare, Zimbabwe and moved to South Africa to pursue a career in music, even though she initially always wanted to become a professional nurse- what an interesting spin for her life, right?

We’ve heard her feature on several hit singles like Nge Thanda Wena by Mlindo The Vocalist, Akulaleki alongside another flawless vocalist, Samthing Soweto and Love You Tonight by MFR Souls. It is seemingly unquestionable that every music project she’s a part of, literally turns into gold sparkles.

The star recently dropped her first eight track project titled Blossom EP and has been receiving positive recognition from every street corner. The Amapiano genre which has been undoubtedly gaining more and more popularity all over the country and internationally.

The artist showcases her versatile artistry on the EP. She kicks off with Abondaba featuring Samthing Soweto, the song communicates to gossipers and tale-tellers (abondaba) who insist on intentionally causing problems in other people’s relationships by prattling rumors.

She follows up with You, which is a song that paints a beautiful scene of a new couple that has fallen deeply in love with each other and is certain that their love story journeys the true definition of what most people look for in their significant other.

The first half of the EP also includes the soul-soothing track titled, Emazulwini and the heartfelt Mutare, referring to her hometown. This particular song speaks of the gratitude, the support and honor that she has for her birth place as she embarks further and climbs heights in her music career.

She kicks off the sixth track with Tender Love featuring the scorpion kings (DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small), the love tune has won many people’s hearts and has proven to be the favorite track on the EP to many.

The rising star is famous for her mellifluous voice and has thus made her own Amapiano rendition of the popular Moloko’sSing it back” track, which was also released as her hit lead single. She then closes off this epic EP with another rendition of the popular deep house track Something About You. On both songs she features DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small, and she has definitely rekindled the spark for both songs with these renditions.

The EP has been receiving massive attention from both Amapiano heads and those who appreciate the soothing Rhythm and Blues, as it easily caters for both music genres.
