Paying It Forward In A Celebration Of 60 Years Of Tastic Being In Home And Hearts Of South Africa

Tertiary education fees have significantly increased over the past couple of years. Coupled with the Covid pandemic which has accelerated the challenges and pressure on many household income thus affecting the young scholas that wish to advance their education at tertiary level due to lack of funds. A challenge that has been closely monitored by Mzansi’s most iconic brand, Tastic.

Tastic rice has partnered with The Mukheli Twins (Justice & Fhatuwani) and Sthu Manaka through their My Loves Art Movement to make impactful change in our communities through our continued investment in education for sustained solutions that will benefit our country in the long run. Tastic in collaboration with the My Loves Art movement curated a 16 pieces art collection inspired by untold South African stories of true generosity and the spirit of Ubuntu.

This collection was auctioned on the 31st March 2021 at an auspicious affair attended by esteemed art collectors who share the same principles of art and education.

“Education remains a key expression of Tastic’s true generosity, that allows the development of many young South Africans that will be provided with an opportunity to further their education, improve their communities and pay it forward to those who will come after them through our Tastic Legacy Fund”. Says Thembi Sehloho, Marketing Director of Pasta and Rice.

The Legacy Fund is not the brand’s first stint at supporting education and funding tertiary students. This is our continued effort in showcasing the spirit of true generosity stemming from our initial partnership with Laduma Ngxokolo of Maxhosa Africa were we raised over R700 000.00 funds which benefited 30 deserving tertiary students towards their tertiary fees.

“As My Loves Art, we are encouraged that this collection is a contribution towards assisting disadvantaged students through the Tastic Educational Fund, as we can truly relate to people whom were once disadvantaged and not afforded the opportunities to attend universities to further our education. Our artistic expression and body of work depicts each of our stories. We encourage the public to showcase their spirit of generosity by supporting this movement to help our youth with access to education”. Says Fhatuwani Mukheli.

Over R 800 000.00 was raised during the auction event held at Hallmark House. Details of how students can enter to benefit from the fund will be posted on the brand’s official Instagram and Facebook pages
