KZN Premier Cup 2023

Amazulu FC have been Crown the KZN premiers cup 2023 champions as teams prepare for the season 23/24. Six teams from KZN participated, Richards Bay FC, Amazulu, Golden Arrows, Royal Am, Maritzburg united and Milford Fc the new comers. The KZN premiers cup is a competitive cup competition that helps KZN teams to prepare during their preseason weekend awaiting for the season to resume

Royal am and Amazulu FC played the opening match allowing Amazulu FC to advance to the semi finals scoring two goals to nil against Royal Am the defending champions. Coach John Maduka emphasized that “last season we had problems defensively  however players like Jiyani will help us in that department, young players are hungry and will be the solution if our problems”, said John Maduka. New players were revealed Nkanyiso Zungu was part of the Royal Am football club after parting ways with Richards Bay and Orlando Pirates. Golden Arrows introduced Bradley cross who made it to the starting eleven, Richards Bay FC also showed a glimpse of what to expect in the season 23/24 in the DSTV Premier League , allowing Austin Dube to bring back his form back after having an unpleasant season with Kaizer Chiefs last season.

Maritzburg united came victorious against the new comers Milford Fc best known as Stallions who played with pride in the field of play allowing the match to go to penalty shootout. Great performance by Maritzburg united as they hope to rise again and claim there way back to the DSTV Premier League, as we know that they will be playing in the Motsepe foundation together with Milford Fc that bought the status of Uthongathi FC making them the two teams from KZN in the National First Division.

Amazulu FC and Richards Bay played the finals which concluded to penalties, Ramahlwe Mphahlele from Usuthu missed during the penalty shootout, Siphamandla Ncanana and Mabuya from the Natal rich boys missed their penalties, making Amazulu FC the king’s of KZN football under the newly appointed coach Pablo Franco Martin who believes that  it was important for the team to win this trophy to send the message to everyone.
