A youth design studio helping businesses grow through design!

As more and more South African companies seek access to market through traditional retail channels, competition has become more and more fierce as new products jostle for shelf space. Those companies whose packaging under-represents and therefore under sells their product or does not comply with labelling legislation will never make it into our stores.

Despite the fact that many SMMEs are finding access to funding and access to market by an increased number of  business support programmes, 25 year old design entrepreneur Sibusiso Mkhwanazi, creator and director of youth run design studio Sintu Design, believes that product development and packaging design are often neglected in the incubation process. “Having a well presented and packaged product is just as important as having a good business plan,” says Mkhwanazi.

Sintu Design’s services include developing authentic and beautiful packaging design for South African businesses that truly accentuate and elevate the product, by drawing inspiration from the rich diversity of South African culture.

As a contribution to supporting local business and a means of showcasing their own skills, Sintu Design is running a competition in which 20 businesses in the fast-moving consumer goods and consumer packaged goods sector stand a chance to win limited edition packaging design, exclusively created for their product or brand. This includes cosmetics, food, beverages and almost anything else that can be found in retail stores.

The competition will run from 22 May 2019 to 1 July 2019, with finalists being invited to be part of an exhibition to be held at J&B Hive in Braamfontein in November when winners will be announced.
