“What a Glorious Occasion”! In the words of Yeezy, Castle Lite ‘Came Through Hard’ with what has to be labeled as thee Dopest International and Local Hip-Hop Experience of 2019 which all took place on the 17th- 18th of June at Ticket Pro Dome.
The Unlocked Experience has definitely raised the bar from its fundamental phase in 2013 and has evolved into one of the most anticipated events to take place within the Southern Hemisphere. #Facts
The two-day experience offered nothing but a true glimpse into the Hip Hop Cultural Movement but Day 1 was definitely for the love of Street-Kulture. On the Street Fashion forte reps such as: Nardstar and Galxboy Founder Thatiso Duke served art and fashion on a ‘cold plate’ (not failing to mention the sick merch both brands collaborated on).
Dropping knowledge on these kids during the Cold Table Convo’s were the likes of LootLove, Ugandan radio and TV personality, Lee Kasumba and DJ Speedsta who kept alot of Hip Hop Inspired Cats deep in conversation about the industry and the cold truth about its beauty and flaws.
The masses witnessed unlocked performances by Top SA artists such as: AKA, Cassper Nyovest, Nadia Nakia and on the decks with DJ PH but it was International Headliner Meek ‘Milly’ Mill who not only stole the stage but shut down Day 1 on a high end with everyone rapping to Milly’s hits and throwing their hands in the air. #Amen.
Day2 spearheaded on the musical front and the crowd witnessed yet again amazing performances from South African Hip Hop stars such as: Nasty C, Ricky ‘Mr Kotoni’ Rick and Hip Hop Femcee Rouge who is without a shadow of doubt one of SA’s sickest lyricist.. #handsdown
But the Man of the Hour, Mr Unlocked 2019, Mr Rockstar *Round of applause* for Post Motherfreakin Malone…. We certainly understand why Castle Lite decided to Unlock Malone in 2019 due to his career peak and the insane fan base he has in South Africa but also to “give the kids what they want”.
From the moment he entered the stage, you could hear screaming echos of dedicated fans travel through the dome to the masses chanting all his hits from beginning to end. We can stand firm and salute Post Malone. An amazing job well done!
Blazon would most definitely love to send a shout out to Castle Lite and for giving South Africans an international experience on our local shores.. But what stands next is, Who will Castle Lite Unlocking in 2020?? The list is endless, the guessing game has begun but what we definitely know it’s going to be colossal!!
