Pinetown Magistrate Court says UKZN student Khayelihle Nzimame who is accused of killing his roommate Simukelo Zondi, is not not fit to stand trial. Magistrate Gwendolyn Robertsons told the court on Monday that Nzimande needs to be taken for further psychiatric evaluation to make more mental examinations on him.
The court room was fully packed with members from both the Nzimame & Zondi family as the Khayelihle made his second appearance before the court. Among those supporting the family of the deceased, was eMshwathi Mayor Councillor Mandla Zondi who also attended the funeral on Saturday.

“The family is not well at all, hence why they asked not to be part of the case nor to even attend it. As the community we support what the court is doing by taking the accused for further mental evaluation because we wish to know his condition so that if it happens that he does stand trial then we know what we are dealing with,” said Mayor Zondi.
Both family of the deceased and the victim were present in court however none of them wanted to make any comment to the media.
However Khayelihle’s brother told Blazonmagazine that maybe after they have spoken to the victim’s family they would be able to also express themselves of what has been a hard time to both families.
Khayelihle will be back in court on 5 November this year where he will learn the proceedings of his case.
