Where did you meet?
We met through a Wits SCO called CAF.
Was it love at first sight?
It wasn’t love at first sight. She was a girl I liked (I have a thing for short girls😜).
What attracted you to each other?
Her person is what attracted me to her. Her passion for prayer and things of God. She is grounded.
Why did you get married?
We got married when we were ready. She had her reason. And mine was to be with my best friend for life.
How did he propose?
I didn’t propose. I told her I’m gonna marry her and she didn’t say “no” 😁
How has marriage changed you?
Marriage has gotten me closer to God. I am more focused than I could ever be. I have achieved a lot in my careers and gifts (financially too) because I now know I had someone depending on me to succeed.
What has marriage taught you?
It has taught me patience. To love like Christ.
What do you love most about being married?
I love the fact I don’t have to spend twice over like I did when we were dating. Now its 1 car, 1 house…kidding 😋. I love having Nana around. She’s so much fun to be with. She gets me. I’d be stupid not to have married someone who makes me feel like that. I’m a king in my house, coz she’s my queen.
What are some of the challenges you’ve faced and how did you overcome them?
Challenges are trying to bring two smart 🧠 brains to focus on one thing. Interactions with in-laws is also tricky.
What do you fight about mostly?
We fight mostly because we misunderstand/misinterpret what the other person is saying. She can be too nagging. Oh, Time management too😩. She says I’m too strict and that ticks her off🤷🏾♂
How do you keep love alive?
Keep love alive? If it’s love, it’s not supposed to die. I once told her that the model of love is God. And because God is eternal, so should our love be.
What do you do for fun?
We cuddle a lot. Oooh and traveling by road and stopping for a night anywhere randomly.
What do you think is the reason people don’t believe in the institution of marriage?
Marriage is tainted by what people see. Married couples should first prioritize each other, before show-boating to the world.
What is your advice to those intending to get married?
My advice is: marriage is beautiful, even in its imperfections. It’s a tool most effective to changing the world. All the solutions to our problems are in marriage. Marriage requires sacrifice and consistent hard work at perfecting your custom made relationship.
